CAPS Senior Pathways Program: Multiple Disabilities

The CAPS Education Collaborative Senior Pathways Program is a substantially separate public day program located at Gardner High School. Students ages 15-22 with moderate to severe multiple  disabilities including: physical, cognitive and sensory are serviced. Individualized, functional academics are based on the Massachusetts curriculum Frameworks. Instruction is done in small group settings or individually and is based on the level and need of the student. Along with academics students participate in food preparation, social and functional living skills, leisure and vocational activities. Students also go shopping, check out books at the public library and take community fieldtrips on a regular basis. Resources in the Gardner High School are also utilized.

Physical, occupational and speech/language therapy are available to students along with assistive technology and adaptive equipment. Behavior support is provided to the classroom.

The goal of Senior Pathways is to foster independence so that students may achieve, to the best of their ability, success, productivity and happiness in an age-appropriate setting.
